London: Chatto & Windus (1929). A near fine first UK edition. The wrapper is very clean and bright without loss. The spine is a tad sunned. It is not price clipped. The book itself is very clean and without wear apart from the tiniest of spotting to one side of the text block. Overall a near fine copy. With the Paul Nash designed Dustwrapper.
Death of a Hero is the story of a young English artist named George Winterbourne who enlists in the army at the beginning of World War I. The book is narrated by an unnamed first-person narrator who claims to have known and served with the main character. It is thought it is partly autobiographical. An uncensored version was published in Paris a year later
